Six month well child check up

Ok, we had our six month visit to the pediatrician yesterday and here are the stats:

  • Length: 26 3/4 inches (75% percentile)
  • Weight: 17lbs 6oz (75% percentile)
  • Head Circumference: 43 1/2 (75% percentile)

The percentiles mean that if looking at 100 babies with Alex's b-day, Alex would be longer, heavier and have a bigger melon than 75 of them.

She did very well with her shots and only cried for a short period of time. The doctor thinks Alex is tracking well for her age and commented that she is very proportional all things considered.

Here are some other interesting facts:

  • still not crawling, but can drag/roll herself to where she wants to go or to get a toy
  • mastered rice cereal and in honor of Fat Tuesday started oatmeal
  • will sit in the Bumbo seat to eat
  • continues to eat about three, 4oz bottles at daycare and has about 3T of cereal early in the morning and after work
  • has only woken up one time in the night for the last few nights (goes to bed between 7 & 8 and is up around1:30 or 2am for a feeding and then sleeps until 6:30 on weekdays) the doctor warned us that if she starts to pork out, we will have to cut out the night time feedings
  • tried sweet peas for the first time and was not a fan - see video below for the gag reflex

Alex vs. Rice Cereal

My Poopy Valentine

Wow - I can honestly say that I've never had a Valentine's Day begin quite like this. Michael picked up the tater tot from her crib and thought she felt sweaty....only it wasn't sweat......see below. Needless to say, we instituted the new tradition of a bath first thing on V-day!

Happy Birthday 6 months old today!

This past weekend we tried rice cereal for the first time - Alex is not a huge fan, in fact she usually ends up fussing while we both attempt to shovel it in. When she opens her mouth wide enough to protest, we dump some in and she seems to like it.

Happy Birthday - 25 weeks old

Alex had a nasty cough/cold this week and was running a low grade fever (did not go much above 100). She stayed home with Mom or Dad in shifts Wednesday thru Friday.

Her nose has been really congested (see below) and she's gotten to the point where when she hears a tissue pulled out of the box, she starts crying!

Wednesday night was especially tough-Alex really did not feel well at all and could not sleep unless she was on someone. Mom slept on the couch with Alex, taking special precautions that she didn't slide off in the night - (a lot of creative work with pillows).

Mom now has the cold and Dad will likely get it next. When is Spring?
