Happy Birthday - 16 weeks old

We spent Thanksgiving in St. Louis with Aunt Allison and Miles - and managed to capture Alex's first real laugh on camera - see below. We spent the rest of the weekend getting our Christmas tree and decorating it. The blanket Alex is laying on was crocheted for her by someone Aunt Allison knows.

Happy Birthday - 14 weeks old

A very exciting week! Naomi Elise Lai (one of Alex's B.F.F.s) was born Tuesday. Congrats to the Lai Family on their new bundle of joy.

Alex continues to roll around and is on the verge of laughing. We put together the "Bounce Bounce Baby" activity center and Alex really seems to like it, she's still a little small for it. Here are some pictures and video of her week!

Rolling over at 3 months old

Alex is officially 3 months old today - November 10th!! To celebrate she decided to roll over this evening after Dad picked her up from day care. See videos below for the proof!

Happy Birthday - 13 weeks old

An eventful week here in Columbia, MO. Jessica started back to work Monday only to have the daycare call at noon stating Alex had a fever and was getting the boot! Dad came to the rescue and picked up the little turkey and mom headed home.

All three of us went to the doctor to find out that there was nothing wrong with her and her temp was normal.....guess she's decided to start rebelling early! In all fairness to the day care, our thermometer at home also stated she was running a fever - but had no other symptoms, except smiling, rolling around and generally looking very content.

By Friday, Mom and Dad started sporting a cold with scratchy throats and stuffy noses, but Alex seems to be the healthiest of all - tomorrow she will be three months old to the day!!

Jessica's leave from work officially ends today - it's back to work full time tomorrow. Here is Alex wearing the same outfit from her 1 week photo - it's pretty tight, especially the hat!

Daycare transition week

Jessica starts work next week, so we are taking advantage of the no cost "Daycare Transition Week" offered by our daycare - End of the Rainbow (click link for daycare website).

This week will be a way to EASE into daycare (probably more for Mom than Alex).

Happy Fall Mrs. Baby

This weekend was very busy! We went to the local library for a book sale and got all of these books for under $8, then a trip to Wal-Mart for some diaper rash cream.

Grandma Hardy came to visit at noon on Saturday and we ventured out to Peach Tree Farm in search of a baby pumpkin for Alex. We also went out to dinner at her first grown up restaurant - Bangkok Gardens. She did very well! Sunday we decided to hit the Katy Trail in Rocheport - she slept most of the time in the stroller, so no pictures. See other pictures below of our adventures - there are more under the "October" photo on the right.

Alex and the Big Apple

We did it!

On Thursday October 9th, we set out for a long drive across the country to New York for a family event - a surprise anniversary party for Jessica's aunt and uncle. We traveled 2200 miles round trip - our little girl did very well!

It took us two days to get out there and two days to get back, and during this trip we introduced the very helpful pacifier (we promised we would only "break glass in case of emergency" and within 1-2 hours on the road, we broke the glass).

We did not have the opportunity to take too many pictures, but are relying on all the pics that everyone else took to supplement the blog.

Driving across the country we learned that McDonald's usually does not have diaper changing stations and Cracker Barrel has excellent built in changing stations in the men's and women's restrooms. Also, hotel parking lots are great places to nurse a hungry baby and you can change a baby in the front seat of a parked car.

Here are some pics from the trip!

Happy Birthday - 8 weeks old

Wow.....8 weeks has flown by! Here she is at almost two months old.
Duckhead blankie is courtesy of the Simcox Family -thanks!

Today was also a big day here at the house, Alex got her first bottle feeding of breast milk from her Dad - she had no problems promptly sucking down 3 ounces (and it wasn't even warm!).

Little Fatty

After a less than stellar beginning at breastfeeding, we are pleased to report than Alex is gaining weight properly! As of yesterday, she is up to 11 pounds!

For those of you that don't know, she initially dropped from 10lbs to 8lbs 14oz, which was pretty scary for us. As you can imagine, our pediatrician was not pleased.

But, with the help of a very knowledgeable lactation consultant and a very patient nurse at Columbia Regional, we are back on track!! Our next doctor appointment is 10/20/08 (her two month check up). Stay tuned...

Goodnight Moon

Here is a very sweet video of Daddy Michael reading to Alex. She really seems to dig laying on the floor and reading this way.

Happy Birthday - 7 weeks old

Alex's future is so bright, she's got to wear shades........! Happy Birthday little girl!

I absolutely love the shirt she is wearing - Michael calls them her "dentist" shirts. They are side snaps and very easy to get on and off making for a much happier baby!

Hardy Look-alike Meter

MyHeritage: Look-alike Meter - Research family history - Family reunion

Eye Boogie Update

This morning, no more eye boogies.......we called the doctor and they agreed that the culprit was likely a clogged tear duct. So, we didn't have to make a trip to the doctor's office. It may happen again, but it's nice to know she doesn't have pink eye, which is very contagious.

Rainbow Power!

We had a big day today - we bought some diapers at the hospital pharmacy and decided to hang out with some of mom's co-workers.

Since she looked so cute, we took a picture of her outfit when we got home. Outfit provided by The West Melbourne Florida Clan!
