42 weeks old - Mother of the Year

This weekend we traveled north to see Grandma Hardy receive her 2009 Mother of the Year award from the Mother's Club in P-town. We were so proud of her! The club has been honoring mothers since 1939!

Of course, Alex charmed all the old (and young) ladies at the reception immediately following the ceremony.

Enjoy the pics!

Special thanks to the Malter's for loaning us their spare car/walker featured below.

Down on the Farm & The Norwalk Hot Zone - 41 weeks old!

Ok, so as of Sunday May 24 - Alex is 41 weeks old - she's almost a year old! WOW!

Since we were traveling during the long weekend, Sleep Sheep stayed home to guard the house and was unavailable for the weekly update picture. Our sincere apologies!

Tuesday May 19, we attended the Parents as Teachers, Down on the Farm event after work. They had lots of fun things to do for age groups up to 5, including seeing live cows/calves, pigs/piglets and baby chickens. Alex took it all in and probably had more fun people-watching than anything.

We left Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend to see our good friends in Iowa, the Malter's (Norwalk) and the Lai's (Iowa City). We arrived in Norwalk a.k.a. "the Hot Zone" where John Ross was recovering from pink eye, Cortney currently had pink eye and before we left Monday, Judd was starting to sport goopy eyes. We didn't make it to the Lai house (for fear we could be carriers of conjunctivitis).......so far, our eyes are regularly colored.....!

While in Norwalk, we visited the Blank Park Zoo (5 minutes from Cortney and Kyle) and had a great time! Enjoy the pics and video below.

40 weeks old!

A recap of the week!

Mom, Alex and Grandma Judy all hung out on Monday since Jessica had the day off from work. We ate lunch at the Upper Crust and visited Stephen's Lake park.

Grandma Judy left on Tuesday and Alex slowly adjusted to not having an audience for bedtime.

Alex's 9 month well child check up was Friday - she's on track and growing as expected. She's dipped a bit into the 50th percentiles for height, weight and head circumference. We got clearance from the doctor to start feeding her meats, egg yolks, yogurt and cheeses!

Daytona 500, here I come! Sleep Sheep is such a backseat driver....

39 weeks old a.ka. 9 months old!

Alex officially turned 9 months old on Mother's Day! She has now been outside the womb longer than she was inside.

We've missed a few posts these last weeks as we have been pretty busy- let's see if we can re-cap the events:
  • Week 37 = Mom got to check out the Just Between Friends Sale and get some great bargains. Cortney visited Tiger Town for a big Theta bash and finally got to meet Little Miss Tiny A and brought her some cute hand me downs from a garage sale as well as a stylin' MIZZOU shirt. That same weekend Grandma Hardy arrived and we gave her the materials to make Alex some home-made "lovey" blankets.

  • Week 38 = Grandma Judy arrived from Florida and enjoyed cool temps and rain for about the entire time she was visiting! By the end of week 38, Alex started running a fever between 99 and 101. This combined with loss of appetite, diaper rash and teething made for a very unhappy baby. With the fever, Mom and Dad had to juggle Alex at home while Grandma visited Aunt Allison in St. Louis (good timing!). Grandma Judy arrived back in Columbia in time for Mrs. Baby to begin exhibiting signs of a rattling cough and runny nose.

So, with all that going on, it's easy to see why we missed some posts. Alex is now on the mend and we all had a very nice Mother's Day with both Grandma's in Columbia. We're pretty certain that four teeth have pushed through the gums (top two front teeth and bottom two front teeth) and they continue to work their way out into the world.
